Healing in Unexpected Ways

Healing doesn’t always happen the way I think it will - or should.

I was having some physical issues. Actually, they were issues I had for a long time but were now becoming harder to ignore.

The first was restless legs, which I’ve had for decades. Most of the time I had been able to manage it, but it seemed to be getting less controllable. And it felt different now - more intense. I repeatedly asked for healing, but it wasn’t getting any better.

I called my friend, Katie. She has done a lot of spiritual work and study and was able to give me a grounding technique that has helped immensely. In fact, it has almost eliminated the problem!

I asked for healing help from Spirit.

They sent me to Katie.

Another issue I was having was back pain. It’s been a few years now, but again, it has been getting worse, and occasionally leads to back spasms. Very painful. I have tried various stretching and strengthening exercises, but they all caused more pain. Again, I asked Spirit for healing.

My son and daughter-in-law recently bought a house that needed some TLC and recruited their parents to help them get the house ready to move into. They asked if I could do some painting.

I have done a lot of painting over the years. I enjoy it and I do it often. (I get bored with the colors on my walls.) But lately my back pain has stopped me. A few months ago I even hired a friend to paint most of the interior of my house.

So when my son asked me to do some painting, I was reluctant. We discussed it and I suggested that all of us working together could get it painted in a couple of days. I thought I could suffer the pain for a weekend.

But when the painting began, it turned out everyone else had other things to work on. I was the painter. The only painter.

Oh boy.

I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do the job but decided I would try, knowing I might have to tell them I would be unable to finish.

I painted the living room the first day. I was in pain that evening and the next day, and the heating pad was my constant companion.

When the pain subsided a couple of days later, I painted the hallways. More pain. More heating pad.

But the next day I was standing up straighter.

Every few days I went over and painted another room. And my back pain started to lessen. It now feels better than it has in years!

I asked Spirit for healing.

I was given a workout.

Healing does not always come as an immediate, miraculous cessation of pain. Sometimes I am led to take some action. When I am open to Spirit's guidance, the healing happens.
