Raising Your Vibration

I was standing in my yard, looking at the trees, feeling peaceful, feeling good. Suddenly, a wave of energy came up from the Earth and hit me so hard I had to sit down on the ground! It almost knocked me off my feet! I sat there for about 30 minutes, laughing and crying and feeling this energy, this vibration. It was amazing!

I knew about energy, of course. I even knew - intellectually - that I am energy, vibration. But most of the time I need an experience to really bring the truth to full realization. This was that experience.

I started learning how to raise my vibration. I wanted to feel this again!

What does it mean to raise your vibration?

It means to increase the level - the vibration - of the energy in your body, in your cells, in your atoms. We are, at the core of our being, energy. We know this. Each of us is an energy field. And that energy has a vibration. The level of our vibration changes during the day with the people around us, what we do, our thoughts, what we listen to and watch. Lower vibrational energy feels heavy and dense and is associated with emotions like sadness, anger, jealousy, fear. Higher vibrational energy feels light and expansive and is associated with joy, love, peace.

Which answers the next question: why do we want to raise our vibration?

To feel better!

We experience life through our emotions, our feelings. Think about the things you like to do - why do you like them? Because they make you FEEL good. Whether it’s dancing or skydiving, cooking or reading, we like what we like because of how it makes us feel.

A higher vibration feels good. We feel more joy, more peace, more love.

So how do we raise our vibration?

It’s not hard.

Listen to your favorite music. Laugh. Sing. Dance. Walk in the woods. Look at the sky at night. Paint. Draw. Meditate. Do breath work. Watch the butterflies. Run. Do something nice for someone. Practice yoga.

My favorite way allows me to quickly raise my vibration any time, any where. It’s very useful when I’m in the middle of something and need to quickly and quietly change my energy, when I begin feeling low.

I was at a restaurant with a friend when a group of people she knew came in. They asked us to sit with them. I was not a fan of these people, but my friend liked them so we moved. It wasn’t long, though, before I started to feel irritated and angry. No one was arguing or being obnoxious; it was just the energy. Maybe theirs, maybe mine - it doesn’t matter. I felt my energy falling and wanted to leave, but I had not driven and was stuck. I went to the restroom and did this exercise for a couple of minutes. I was able to raise my energy and, surprisingly, actually enjoy the rest of the evening.

This is the exercise:

Once you become aware of your low vibration, acknowledge any emotions you are feeling. This is not intended as a way to hide, deny, or push away your feelings. Feel them.

Then focus on your breathing - take deeper breaths; let it out slowly. As you breathe in, imagine the vibration (energy, love - call it whatever you want) from the core of the Earth coming in through your feet and moving up through your body to the top of your head. On the exhale, imagine the vibration flowing out of your head and around your body, back down to the Earth.

Do this several times and you will start to feel a change. It may feel like strength. It may feel like peace. It may feel like compassion, or kindness, or joy.

You have just changed your vibration!

I do this several times a day. When possible, I do it outside standing barefoot on the ground. Amazing!

Research indicates that raising your vibration not only improves your mood, but also can positively affect your physical and mental health.

And there are additional benefits.

Because we are all connected, when we raise our own vibration, those around us may experience a higher vibration.

Because we are all connected, when we raise our own vibration, the vibration of the world rises. More peace. More joy. More love.

It’s good for me. It’s good for the world.

Definitely worth a few minutes a day.
