Energy Laundering
(Disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional. The following are my personal thoughts about this subject. If you are suffering with emotional or mental health issues, please consult a professional.)
I was thinking about money laundering the other day. I don’t know a lot about it, but I’ve watched enough TV and movies to understand the basics: take money that is gotten illegally and funnel it through a legitimate business to “clean” it.
So why was I thinking about money laundering? Because the energy in the world today needs to be laundered.
Is the world worse than “before”? Many people believe it is. Personally, I don’t think so. As I’ve said before, history teaches us there was plenty of horror in the past.
But past horrors don’t negate the bad things that are happening right now. People all over the world and in the US are fighting for their lives, their freedom, their rights, their futures.
People are angry, afraid, and miserable.
And some of us are hanging on to that anger and fear. We can’t or won’t let it go.
Eventually it becomes who we are.
We may believe we have a right to it. That it is good to be angry. Some of us believe everyone should be angry about what’s happening; we believe it’s the only way things will change, the only way to get what we want.
We believe our anger is righteous. That it is helpful.
It’s not.
Angry energy is angry energy. It doesn’t matter if it comes from the Left or the Right, from the powerless or the powerful, from those suffering or those sympathizing.
Anger is anger.
And the more anger we radiate, the more anger there is in the world. Living in anger and misery is not noble. It is not altruistic. It is not helpful.
It only increases the anger in the world.
Here’s where energy laundering comes in.
Let me be clear: I am in no way suggesting that we need to suppress any emotion. Of course we shouldn’t act on all our emotions, but we do need to be aware of them.
We need to acknowledge the anger, fear, helplessness, and misery in the world and in our hearts and minds.
Why?
First, because they are real emotions and we absorb and are affected by them whether or not we allow ourselves to be aware of them. Acknowledging them, feeling them, means we’re being honest with ourselves. Hiding from our emotions only keeps them stuck.
Second, acknowledging our feelings allows us to do something about them. Something that IS helpful.
For instance, once you acknowledge your feelings of anger or fear or helplessness, you may feel compelled to help by giving money, support, or aid to those who are suffering. Great way to launder that energy!
You may decide to change your behavior - volunteer, attend rallies, work towards positive change, pay attention to how you “vote” with your dollars. More great ways to clean energy.
Finally, you can funnel the emotions through you and “clean” them, transmuting them into higher energy. You do this by accepting and allowing the emotions - anger, fear, helplessness, or whatever you are struggling with. Use the following steps for each emotion - one at a time.
1. Allow yourself to feel the emotion. Give yourself a minute or two to really feel it in your body. Focus on the emotion, not the story around it.
2. Next, imagine sending love to the emotion (not to any person or group, not to the situation. To the emotion). Send your love or Spirit’s Love - whichever works best. (Sometimes our anger prevents us from being willing to give our love. Don’t judge yourself.)
3. Keep sending love - whatever that looks like or feels like to you - until you see or feel the emotion shrink, leave or disappear.
4. Repeat whenever you feel the emotion come up again. Usually, the longer you have held onto and/or ignored the emotion, the longer it will take to let it go. Be patient.
Make sure you allow yourself to feel “good” emotions - Love, Hope, Strength - during and after completing any of these activities. Feel the positive energy flowing! Believe that every little bit you do helps - more than you can imagine.
Any of these energy laundering techniques can help you to decrease or eliminate at least one person’s anger, fear, and misery from the collective energy of the world. Yours!
You will be helping the world AND yourself. Can’t get much better than that.
